Newcastle United striker Antoine Sibierski will miss the remaining games of the season after undergoing surgery on his broken arm, the Magpies have confirmed.
The Frenchman suffered the injury during the 1-0 defeat against Reading on Monday and has now had to have an operation.
Sibierski joined Newcastle on transfer deadline day in the summer from Manchester City and has gone on to score three goals in 14 games for the Tynesiders this season.
He only signed a one-year deal for Newcastle in the summer move from City, but Magpies boss Glenn Roeder hinted that his performances this year will see him back at St James' Park for next campaign.
"Antoine has undergone an operation on his broken arm and will definitely miss the rest of the season," Roeder told the Newcastle website.
"It's a shame because he has been fantastic for us this year.
"Luckily we have Shola [Ameobi] and Michael [Owen] back now, but our luck with injuries has been awful all season."
Roeder will also be smarting from the news that Turkish midfielder Emre will also miss the end of the campaign with an ankle injury suffered in the same Reading game.
Newcastle, who are currently 12th in the Premiership, face Blackburn this weekend and finish their season with a trip to already-relegated Watford.
