Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has assured Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson that his side "will enjoy the fight" for the Premiership title, despite now struggling eight points behind the league leaders.
At Stamford Bridge yesterday, the Blues could only manage a 1-1 draw with London rivals Arsenal thanks to an 84th minute piledriver from Michael Essien.
The Gunners took the lead after 78 minutes through a Mathieu Flamini strike but were under the cosh for the remainder of the game as Chelsea equalised and hit the woodwork twice in the dying moments.
As a result of the draw, the champions find themselves falling further behind in the title race although Mourinho remains confident that the gap is not insurmountable just yet.
"I think he (Ferguson) must be happy because we have dropped two points here but if he thinks it is over then he is in trouble," the Blues boss said.
"Chelsea are ready. Going in front is obviously better but let's chase them. We showed at Old Trafford we are not afraid and we can beat them at Stamford Bridge."
Mourinho also underlined his confidence in his players ahead of Wednesday's game against Newcastle United, which will bring the two championship contenders level in games played. If Chelsea win that match, the gap will be down to five points and Mourinho believes a victory against the Magpies is a foregone conclusion.
"I think it will be five points after Wednesday. After that let's enjoy the fight."
