Newcastle United manager Kevin Keegan has revealed he has an optimistic plan to bring former Arsenal legend Thierry Henry back to English football.
The French international joined Barcelona last summer in a £16.1 million deal and at the time said he would find it hard to play for any other Premier League team.
However Keegan, who has a history of groundbreaking transfers after spending a then-world record fee of £15 million to take Alan Shearer to St James' Park in 1996, believes he can tempt the 30-year-old to return to these shores.
"I would like to fetch Thierry Henry back to England. He's the best player I've seen in the Premiership," Keegan told Radio Newcastle.
"When you're pitch-side, what I've seen him do to good players has been incredible."
Keegan admitted he would have to "get lucky" in order to seal a deal for the highly-rated forward, but added: "Sometimes you can take advantage of a situation."
Henry has not been reported to be unhappy at the Catalan giants, and is also getting regular first-team football.
But Keegan said he has the financial clout, courtesy of Magpies chairman Mike Ashley, to be able to compete with the world's biggest clubs in terms of transfer fees and wage packets.
"I'd like to do what we did last time and surprise people [with a transfer]," Keegan continued.
"It would be nice to break a world record.
"Why rule it out? I'd like to bring players here that amaze people and we stop just talking about being a big club, but with our actions we must show that we are."
