Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce has rubbished claims that he will sell Kieron Dyer.
Reports claimed Allardyce would get rid of the injury-prone midfielder because of his high wages as part of his revolution on Tyneside.
Tottenham were reportedly keen on signing the 28-year-old England winger.
But Allardyce has held showdown talks with Dyer to assure him of his future at St James' Park.
Allardyce said Dyer is a major part of his plans to bring success to the Magpies next season.
"Anyone saying that I want Kieron to leave is talking utter rubbish," Allardyce told The People newspaper.
"He is one of the successes of last year in that he appears to have overcome his major injury problems.
"I have spoken to Kieron. He is such a versatile player that he can get used in a number of positions and that can be difficult for him sometimes.
"But I will take the brunt of it if he has to be moved around. We want to grow together."
After a horrendous 2005/06 campaign with injury, Dyer made 30 appearances for the Magpies last season and bagged seven goals.
Allardyce has been busy in the transfer market signing defender David Rozehnal for £2.9 million, midfielder Joey Barton for £5.8 million and striker Mark Viduka on a free transfer.
