Sir Alex Ferguson has been the victim of an alleged assault at Euston station in London.
The 66-year-old Manchester United manager received minor injuries in the attack, which took place on Monday afternoon at approximately 16:15 BST.
It is believed that Ferguson was in London to attend a private function and was accosted at the terminal, which is one of the capital's busiest hubs.
He apparently suffered injuries to his leg but was still able to attend the function unaided.
A British Transport Police spokesman confirmed that two alleged assaults had taken place, one on a member of the public and another on a police community support officer.
A 42-year-old man has been charged with one count each of actual bodily harm, common assault and a section five, racially aggravated offence.
He is due to appear at Westminster magistrates court today to answer the charges.
"Neither man was treated for his injuries," the spokesman added.
Ferguson is one of British football's most recognisable faces after more than 20 years at the helm of England's most prestigious club side, Manchester United.
It is not known if the alleged attack was at random or whether the Glasgow-born manager was personally targeted.
