Real Madrid manager Bernd Schuster has predicted Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing at the Bernabeu in "a couple of years".
Ronaldo took centre stage at the Stadio Olimpico last night as his headed goal sent Manchester United on their way to a 2-0 win over Roma.
Schuster, whose side were knocked out in the previous round by the Italians, rates the Portuguese winger as the "best player in the world".
But the German told Spanish sports daily AS on Wednesday that United would not be willing to sell.
"So in the short term I don't think it will be possible to sign him," he said.
"But in a couple of years, yes, I believe he could be wearing the white shirt at the Bernabeu."
Ronaldo's first-half goal in the first-leg of the Champions League quarter-finals last night was his seventh in the competition and 36th overall this season.
Schuster says the 23-year-old's goalscoring exploits on the highest stage have seen him eclipse AC Milan playmaker Kaka, who won the Champions League last year, as the world's premier footballer.
"He's the star at Old Trafford and until they win the Champions League and another league title or two then they aren't going to let him go," he continued.
"For me, Cristiano Ronaldo has already overtaken Kaka after the loss of form of the Brazilian at Milan this season. One day he will be with us."
