Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has dismissed speculation linking full-back Gabriel Heinze with a move to Liverpool.
The Scotsman, who has been at the Old Trafford helm for more than two decades, was adamant that any deal to take the Argentinean defender away from the club would not be done with their bitter rivals on Merseyside.
"I can assure you, Liverpool will not be getting Gabriel Heinze," Ferguson stressed, in no uncertain terms, at a press conference in Seoul.
"We can put that to bed right now. We have had a couple of offers for him and we have turned them down."
Forward Phil Chisnall is the only player in the post-war era to be transferred directly between the two clubs when Liverpool paid United £25,000 for his services in 1964.
But Ferguson has angrily rejected suggestion that he would be selling any player to Rafael Benitez, claiming the reason for all the speculation linking Heinze with Anfield was a result of the player's representatives.
"Heinze's agents are rolling the ball all the time," he said. "But no matter what his agent thinks, we are in the driving seat.
"I don't exactly know what Gaby thinks because it is all coming from his agent, but this has been going on for a year and a half now."
