Barcelona striker Eidur Gudjohnsen says he would welcome a move back to the Premiership as long as he could play Champions League football.
The Icelandic international has struggled to break into the Barca line up since his £8 million move from Chelsea last summer and is looking for a way out of the Camp Nou.
He told the Daily Mail: "I joined Barcelona to be part of the club's triumphs but it is not easy for me when you look at the club's forward line and see all the big names there."
Gudjohnsen could still win the Spanish title with the Catalan giants on Sunday but the 28-year-old wants to play regular football and seems set to leave.
He explained: "Each minute has been a special test for me but to sit on the bench is not the most desirable experience for a player."
Manchester United could be interested in the striker due to a number of injuries in that area, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Louis Saha have both recently had operations.
Gudjohnsen scored 78 goals in 263 games while at Chelsea and having experienced success in the English league says that would be his preferred destination.
"If I leave then my ideal idea would be to return to British football," said Gudjohnsen.
"If Barcelona decide to place me in the market then I need to study all the details. But a perfect choice for me will be a club that plays in the Champions League.
"Obviously Manchester United fits that category."
Gudjohnsen is likely to be available at a fraction of the £8 million that Barcelona paid for him after managing just eight goals in 19 appearances this season.
