Manchester United chief executive David Gill has suggested that the club's chequebook may be closed for the summer after a flurry of early transfer activity.
Sporting's Nani and Porto's Anderson have only minor details to tie up on their moves to Old Trafford while the club have confirmed the capture of long-term target Owen Hargreaves from Bayern Munich for a fee of £17 million.
It is estimated that the Premiership champions have splashed out around £50 million on the trio and, although a top-class striker is also thought to be a priority for manager Sir Alex Ferguson, Gill intends the pursuit of other targets to be more leisurely.
"We will see what happens over the next two or three months but by and large that will be the major element of our business," he told club television station MUTV.
"If a player comes up that Sir Alex [Ferguson] is convinced will make us better, I am sure we will find the funds but that is a major bit of business we have done this week."
The prospect of squeezing the attacking talents of Nani and Anderson into a Red Devils' line-up that already features Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo is one that has already got assistant coach Carlos Queiroz excited.
"It is really worth stopping to imagine what an attack formed by Wayne Rooney, Cristiano Ronaldo, Nani and Anderson could do," he said.
"They are players who blend creativity and magic into football. It really is wonderful to be able to mould and enhance their capabilities."
