Three England football stars are due to take part in the most important match of their lives today - as they prepare to marry their girlfriends.

But the wedding fixtures clash is likely to cause a headache for their team-mates, whose loyalties will be tested as they decide which ceremonies they should attend.

Manchester United's Gary Neville and Michael Carrick are both due to tie the knot today, along with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Their nuptials come after England skipper John Terry kicked off the weekend of weddings by marrying Toni Poole yesterday.

In a love match worthy of a premiership footballer's glamorous lifestyle, the 26-year-old Chelsea star reportedly spent almost £1 million celebrating the affair at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire.

Fellow Chelsea players Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole are reported to have been among the guests, along with Manchester United's Wayne Rooney, who is rumoured to be attending all three of today's football weddings with fiancee Coleen McLoughlin.

If reports are to be believed, the pair will have a busy day ahead in trying to achieve their goal.

Neville is due to hold a reception at his Lancashire mansion after marrying Emma Hadfield at a service in Manchester Cathedral, which his best mate David Beckham is set to miss due to his last game for Real Madrid tomorrow.

Manchester United midfielder Carrick is set to marry Lisa Roughhead in Melton Mowbray, while Liverpool player Gerrard will tie the knot with Alex Curran at Cliveden House in Berkshire. Their nuptials are to be followed by a lavish three-day bash.
