Chelsea striker Didier Drogba insists he wants to stay at the club despite speculation suggesting he is on the verge of leaving Stamford Bridge.

The 30-year-old has been linked with a move to both AC Milan and their city rivals Inter, where Drogba's former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho recently became manager.

It was after Mourinho's departure from Chelsea last September that Drogba first hinted he wanted to leave.

"I have a contract with Chelsea until 2010, so I am still a Chelsea player," Drogba told Sky Sports, who was signed by Mourinho for Chelsea in 2004 from Marseille.

"Mourinho is my friend and I am happy for him because he was missing coaching. He is a top coach but, like I said, my contract here runs until 2010."

Drogba was sent off in the Champions League final defeat to Manchester United and many felt that would be his last game for the Blues. The Ivory Coast international admitted he regretted what had happened in the final.

"I am really disappointed with myself [for getting sent off]," he said.

"I lost my head completely and I let the team down. I should not have reacted in that way. I let myself down, the Chelsea fans, my homeland - but that is life."

New Chelsea manager Luis Felipe Scolari will be happy to hear the news that one of the most prolific strikers in Europe wants to stay at the club.

He will now have to turn his attentions to England midfielder Frank Lampard, who has yet to sign a new contract and has also been linked with joining Jose Mourinho at Inter Milan.
