England boss Fabio Capello has called up Peterborough United goalkeeper Joe Lewis for next week's friendlies.
The 20-year-old has been drafted into the squad for the games against the United States and Trinidad and Tobago.
David James, Chris Kirkland and Joe Hart were originally called up for the double header, but it is unclear which of the trio suffered an injury in training.
Capello has snubbed Premier League keepers including Robert Green and Scott Carson, in favour of the League One shot-stopper.
The England manager recently watched Lewis in his Under-21 debut against Wales at the Racecourse Ground.
Barry Fry, Peterborough's director of football, said it was fantastic news for the club and Lewis.
"I believe there has been an injury to one of the goalkeepers in the squad and they have called Joe up. It will be a fantastic experience for him," Fry told the club's official website.
Lewis cost Posh a club record £400,000 from Norwich City in the January transfer window. He has made 22 appearances for the club, playing a key role in their automatic promotion to League One.
The rookie is expected to start on the bench in England's game against the United States on Wednesday at Wembley. Three days later, he will travel to the Caribbean for the final friendly of the season against Trinidad and Tobago.
