Manchester City's troubled midfielder Joey Barton has been arrested by police following an incident earlier this month at the club's training ground.
Barton was said to have attacked his team-mate Ousmane Dabo at the Carrington training ground on May 1st.
Dabo, who was left hospitalised and nursing injuries to his eye, nose and lip after the alleged incident, spoke to the police following the clash.
Now Greater Manchester Police have confirmed they have questioned a 24-year-old man over the incident, with Barton believed to have been bailed until July 11th as the investigation continues.
A police spokesman commented: "A 24-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a Section 20 assault following an incident when a 30-year-old man was assaulted at Carrington."
Dabo, 30, has since branded Barton a coward and vowed to pursue the matter.
Barton, meanwhile, looks to have opened another chapter in a career littered with incidents involving team-mates and fans.
Early in his career at a club Christmas party he stubbed a cigar out on a junior player's eye, while he was sent home in disgrace from a tour of Thailand after becoming embroiled in an altercation with an Everton fan.
The England midfielder had appeared to have put his past behind him after attending counselling sessions and putting together a run of good form, but City's torrid season has seen the 24-year-old find himself in hot water once more.
