Liverpool striker Fernando Torres has backed manager Rafael Benitez's controversial policy of rotating his team on a game-by-game basis.
The £23 million summer signing from Atletico Madrid was left on the bench for the Reds' two recent goalless draws against Portsmouth and Birmingham in the league sparking questions over the former Valencia boss's use of his current club's record buy.
But Torres has insisted that he does not mind time out of the starting line-up and is striving to prove that he is the best attacking option to unlock every opposition.
We players have to adapt to systems, rather than systems being adapted to suit the players," Torres told the Champions magazine.
"The manager will decide who plays depending on what he needs in each game. The players who do best are the ones who win a place.
"I'm playing with pressure and responsibility. I'm used to it."
The Spanish international will be making his third consecutive start if he is named up front for tomorrow's Champions League group clash against Marseille, but there will be enforced changes elsewhere in the team.
Jermaine Pennant is suspended for the match after his red card away to Porto in the first group game and either Ryan Babel or in-form Yossi Benayoun is expected to fill in on the right flank.
Djibril Cisse and Bolo Zenden are both expected to feature for the visitors after leaving Anfield for the south of France last summer.
