Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez admits he needs to make a couple of signings in the transfer window after watching his side's 0-0 draw with Manchester City at Eastlands.
The Reds have slipped ten points behind Premier League leaders Arsenal after failing to take their chances against Sven Goran Eriksson's side.
Liverpool dominated the second half with Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt wasting chances to break the deadlock, meaning the Reds have won just two of their last five league games.
Benitez insists he has money to spend in January despite a row over funds with the clubs owners George Gillett and Tom Hicks.
"We have some players, have some targets and we will try to sign the players we need," Benitez said.
"Maybe one, maybe two, if everyone is fit you never know. We are working hard and are very close."
Benitez made five changes to his team and started with Kuyt, Harry Kewell alongside Torres.
The Spaniard said his side deserved to win with the opportunities they created.
"It was a good game, good effort, the team was playing really well and creating chances but today we couldn't [score]," Benitez said.
"We knew they were playing really well at home, but we had our chances and could have won.
"In the last 15 minutes, we were on top of them. For me, we deserved to win."
The Reds' next game is against Wigan at home on January 2nd, followed by the FA Cup third round tie against Luton Town next Sunday.
