The agent of Mikel John Obi says he wants a full investigation into Peter Crouch's comments about 'foreign players' in the Premier League.
Crouch was sent off for a two-footed tackle against Mikel during Liverpool's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea in the Carling Cup this week.
Following replays of the incident Crouch suggested that a British player "wouldn't have rolled around as if he'd been shot", leaving Mikel's representatives furious.
The Sport Entertainment and Media Group (SEM) now want to take action against Crouch, suggesting his comments were racist.
Mikel's agent told the Sun newspaper: "SEM feel the comments were potentially racist to all foreign players, not just black or African ones.
"We are intending to speak to Trevor Phillips at the Equality and Human Rights Commission on Monday.
"We hope football's governing bodies, who are meant to be committed to stamping out racism issues, will also get involved."
Mikel claims that he did not dive and was genuinely injured in the incident. Chelsea also confirmed that the Nigerian was a doubt for tomorrow's clash against Blackburn due to the knock he received.
Crouch will be banned for three matches following the Red Card but Mikel's representatives are also seeking further reprisals for the striker's comments about the clash.
Mikel's personal manager John Shittu told the paper: "As far as we are concerned, it was a comment made in a very bad light and we'll be taking it to the highest level."
