Djibril Cisse's agent has claimed that Bolton Wanderers are interested in signing the French striker from Liverpool on a permanent basis.
Ranko Stojic says he has been in contact with Trotters boss Sammy Lee to discuss a possible transfer for the £5 million-rated forward, who is on loan at Marseilles.
The 25-year-old may be on the verge of leaving the Reds because Anfield supremo Rafael Benitez has apparently set his sights on bringing in a number of top-class strikers, including Barcelona's Samuel Eto'o and Zaragoza striker Diego Milito.
"It is true that has been some contact with Bolton [about Cisse]," Stojic told the Manchester Evening News.
"I have met up with Sammy Lee on one occasion. He impressed me, not just as a coach, but as a person.
"He is a fantastic man. We are meeting Liverpool next week to find out what they want to do."
Meanwhile Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen will see out his current contract, which expires next summer.
The highly-rated shot-stopper had been linked with a move away from the Reebok Stadium after former manager Sam Allardyce left the club towards the end of last season.
But the player's agent Peter Harrison said the 32-year-old would remain with the Lancashire club for at least another year.
"Jussi has decided that he is going to see out the final year of his contract and assess the situation after that," Harrison told the Daily Mail, adding that manager Sammy Lee was "delighted" by the news.
