Alan Pardew says Charlton must not play like the job is done after a recent run of six games unbeaten and insists their season will not be over for another six games.
Charlton are back in the relegation zone following Sheffield United's win against West Ham yesterday but Pardew feels there is still a long way to go.
The Addicks travel to Goodison Park to face Everton today and Pardew says the game will be the toughest of their remaining fixtures.
He said: "Perhaps we've got ahead of ourselves by getting out of the relegation zone with six games remaining because it wasn't that long along ago that we looked well and truly rooted in the bottom three.
"We've got to sustain that now. The season doesn't end at Everton, it's going to end in four weeks' time and that's when we need to be out of the relegation zone."
Everton are desperate for the points, but for a different reason, as they try to qualify for European competition next season.
The Toffees qualified for the Champions League two seasons ago and manager David Moyes says he wants to experience those European nights again.
He said: "When we got there, the atmosphere around those few European games that we played was different, very special.
"We now have the makings of a stronger team than the one that finished fourth and got us into Europe two years ago."
Everton will be without James Vaughan and Victor Anichebe so James Beattie could come into the side.
The Addicks have injury concerns over defender Hermann Hreidarsson and forward Marcus Bent while Madjid Boughera should return.
