Midfielder Thomas Gravesen has sealed a return to the club that made his name after agreeing a season-long loan deal to re-join Everton.
The 31-year-old moves from Scottish champions Celtic, where he has failed to establish himself as a first-team regular.
He left Goodison Park in January 2005 to join Spanish giants Real Madrid after five years at the Merseyside club and he remains a firm favourite among Toffees fans.
"I have always said I would never want to come back to any other club in England other than Everton I am an Everton player," Gravesen told the club's official website.
"In my five years here we improved all the way and we ended on a high and that is what I want to achieve again."
Gravesen hailed the progress the club has made under David Moyes since his departure, saying the calibre of player has improved immeasurably.
"This is a great feeling. I have been privileged to wear this shirt before but over the last few years Everton has improved a lot," he continued.
"Some fantastic players have come into the squad now and I am definitely pleased to be here, that is for sure.
"It is always difficult to come back to a place but I hope it goes well. I will definitely do my part and for me, it is very important for me to prove after being given another chance in the blue shirt."
The Dane goes straight into the Everton squad for Saturday's trip to the Reebok Stadium and could make his second debut against Bolton Wanderers tomorrow afternoon.
