Everton's winning run in the Uefa Cup continued with a 2-0 win over SK Brann of Norway in the last 32 of the competition.Leon Osman and Victor Anichebe scored for the Toffees who look assured of a place in the next round with the second leg at Goodison Park still to come next week.It was an assured performance from David Moyes' side who showed their quality in the second half to ease past the hosts.Osman broke the deadlock midway through the first half to reward a dominant spell from the visitors. Substitute Anichebe gave them a cushion heading into the next leg when he converted Joleon Lescott's cross with three minutes remaining.Brann threatened occasionally in a slow opening 45 minutes but the closest they came was when Azar Karadas sent his header over the crossbar.Osman produced Everton's best moment of the first half however his curling effort from the edge of the box was denied by a good save from Hakon Opdal. The Toffees had a lucky escape just before the break when Karadas thought he had scored only for the referee to adjudge that goalkeeper Tim Howard had been fouled when he came to claim the corner.Everton upped their work-rate in the second period and were able to create better opportunities for themselves as the Brann defence became stretched.Tim Cahill struck the post but it was not long before Osman put his side in front. He latched on to an attempted clearance and sent a swerving shot into the corner of the Brann goal.Everton continued to attack and were rewarded late on when Anichebe taped home Lescott's cross.Having been knocked out of the FA Cup Everton can spend all week focussing on their preparation for the second leg.
