Derby County striker Kenny Miller has been ruled out of Scotland's Euro 2008 qualifiers against Lithuania and France with a hamstring injury.
The 27-year-old has failed to recover from the problem he picked up while playing for the national team against South Africa in the 1-0 friendly victory two weeks ago.
Miller recently secured a move from Scottish champions Celtic to make a return south of the border with Premier League new boys Derby County, who currently sit bottom of the division after a draw and four defeats in their opening five matches.
He is yet to make his debut for Billy Davies' side because of the same injury but was expected to be fit for this weekend's crucial match at home to Lithuania, before the team travels to Paris to face group leaders France.
Head coach Alex McLeish will be forced into a reshuffle, but has already confirmed that no additional cover will be drafted into his 23-man squad.
Miller's absence means a likely start for Rangers striker Kris Boyd, who has a superb scoring record for the Scots with six goals in his ten appearances. Garry O'Connor, Craig Beattie and James McFadden will battle it out for a place alongside him.
