Derby County defender Jay McEveley, who made his international debut for Scotland in last week's friendly against South Africa, has retained his place in Alex McLeish's latest 25-man squad.

McLeish has named the squad that will play the Euro 2008 qualifying double-header against Lithuania and France next month, which includes 21-year-old left-back McEveley and last week's fellow debutant Barry Robson.

Several senior players who were rested last week return to the squad, including captain Barry Ferguson – despite the fact that he is suspended for the first match against the Lithuanians at Hampden Park.

Rangers' defensive pair David Weir and Lee McCulloch, Celtic midfielder Paul Hartley and Sheffield United stopper Gary Naysmith all return to the fold.

Scotland host Lithuania in the first of the two matches sitting third in the qualifying table behind leaders France and World Cup winners Italy.

The Scots won the first games against both Lithuania and France, away and at home respectively, but still face a tough test in attempting to qualify for the finals tournament in Austria and Switzerland next summer.
