Billy Davies has insisted that he is pleased with the job he has done at Pride Park despite Derby's decision to sack him as manager earlier today.
The former Preston boss has been eased out of the Rams' exit door after a slow start to their Premier League campaign left them two points adrift at the foot of the table.
However, having secured promotion from the Championship last term in his first season in charge, Davies is confident that his spell at Derby will be viewed as an overall success.
"I'm very, very proud walking out of these gates with what's been achieved. I'm walking out with my head held high," he said.
"The one thing I can guarantee is that Billy Davies will bounce back and be a much better and stronger manager for this experience."
The relationship between Davies and the club's chairman Adam Pearson showed signs of strain in the aftermath Derby's latest defeat, a 2-0 home reverse to Chelsea, when Davies claimed not to have spoken with his employer for "two or three weeks".
Those claims were subsequently denied by Pearson, but Davies was pointed in his refusal to discuss his role in his own departure.
"It's football. We know the situation. It's time to move on. This is not the time to discuss anymore. It's time to move onto something new," he said.
"I don't know what there is for the future. I'll wait and see."
However Davies did pay full tribute to the players, backroom staff and fans he leaves behind.
"Everyone's been a pleasure to work with and I've enjoyed the great times I've had at Derby," he concluded.
