Three of England's bright prospects have been sent home from the under-19s training camp after breaking a curfew.
A Football Association statement said Chelsea duo Scott Sinclair and Ryan Bertrand (on loan at Oldham) and Preston North End's on-loan Newcastle defender Andy Carroll had left the squad's base in Leeds and would not be returning.
"I found it necessary to send the three players home for breaking our code of conduct," said head coach Brian Eastick without elaborating.
"All the appropriate people have been informed and there will be no further comment at this time."
In the trio's absence their team-mates managed to chalk up an impressive 6-0 win over Romania under-19s to seal England's place in the elite European Championship qualifying stage.
On Friday both Sinclair and Carroll had scored as England under-19s beat their Icelandic counterparts 5-1. The team draws a line under their preliminary qualification campaign on Wednesday against Belgium in Barnsley.
Wing-forward Sinclair, who scored his first senior Chelsea goal in last month's Carling Cup demolition of Hull, is regarded as one of the brightest prospects at Stamford Bridge.
And both Bertrand and Carroll have been regulars for their on-loan teams so far this season.
