European champions AC Milan have admitted they are chasing Arsenal striker Thierry Henry.
The Italian giants have Henry at the top of their wish list in their bid to find a goalscorer to replace Andriy Shevchenko, who joined Chelsea last summer.
Alberto Gilardino is set to leave the San Siro after a bust-up with boss Carlo Ancelotti, leaving Milan short of a striker next season.
Ancelotti admitted the club will be making a bid for Henry this summer.
"Henry is a great striker and among the players that we are interested in," Ancelotti said.
"Our wish is to acquire a midfielder and a striker this summer but they are all difficult signings to make.
"There is no reason why Gilardino's wish to leave the club cannot come true as we can find an adequate player in exchange."
Milan will be battling with Barcelona for Henry's signature with the Spanish giants revealing yesterday they are still keen on landing the Frenchman.
The Rossineri have also been linked with Barcelona ace Samuel Eto'o and Chelsea goal-machine Didier Drogba.
Henry, 29, has insisted he wants to stay at the Gunners but the shock departure of vice chairman David Dein and the club's frustrating season have raised fresh doubts over his future.
The striker, who scored 12 goals last season, missed most of the campaign through injury as Arsene Wenger's side failed to mount a title challenge for the third consecutive year.
