Russia coach Guus Hiddink has revealed that he has never held talks with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich about being the club's new manager.
Hiddink has been linked with the Chelsea hot-seat ever since Jose Mourinho was sacked back in September. And though the Blues reached the Champions League final and finished second in the Premier League under Avram Grant, Hiddink is still being touted as the next Chelsea manager.
But the Dutchman insisted that he is not heading for Stamford Bridge and that he still has work left to do with Russia, who he will lead into Euro 2008.
"That was not even close [him becoming the next Chelsea manager]. Roman asked me to help renovate Russian football, I still am," Hiddink told BBC London 94.9.
"It would not be appropriate to ask me for Russia and then a few months later ask me for the Chelsea job. We never talked about that."
Grant himself has admitted that he is unsure if he will be at the club at the beginning of next season, even though he signed a four-year contract in December.
Hiddink gave his support to Chelsea's current manager and blamed the British media for putting Grant under unnecessary pressure.
"It's England [the media]. They're commenting every day on everything. It's the position of a man who has hardly lost one game," said Hiddink.
"Maybe he's looking a little bit down but you can't analyse on appearance. Look at what Chelsea have done this season."
