Chelsea and England midfielder Joe Cole could be set for a shock comeback against Valencia on Wednesday night after returning to full training today.
The creative playmaker is targeting the showdown with the Spanish side in midweek as a possible date for a return to first-team action for the first time since November, when he made a brief appearance for the Blues before re-aggravating the injury.
Cole initially picked up the knock in pre-season training and some suggested he may miss most of the 2006/07 season.
However, he said he has kept working hard in order to get back to help the Blues chase the three remaining trophies they need for a historic quadruple - the FA Cup, Champions League and the Premiership title.
"Some said I wouldn't play this season but I want to come back and make an impact - and hopefully that'll be on Wednesday," Cole told Chelsea TV.
"It's not nice being injured - you feel like you are letting your manager and the players down."
Nevertheless, the 25-year-old England man said he now felt "close to perfect" and was ready and raring to go if called upon by his manager.
"I will do what I can, even if it is only for ten or 15 minutes," he added.
"I want to get back to playing again."
There was further good news for the Stamford Bridge faithful as England international full-back Wayne Bridge also returned to training today.
