Dutch giants Ajax have revealed they have reached an agreement with Chelsea over the "immediate transfer" of coach Henk ten Cate.
Rumours have been rife in the media in recent weeks over Ten Cate's impending move to west London to assist new Blues boss Avram Grant, who took over from Jose Mourinho last month.
Grant, who has only managed at club level with European also-rans Maccabi Haifa in his homeland of Israel, does not have the required coaching badges to remain in full-time charge at Stamford Bridge.
And unless he receives special dispensation from the Football Association to continue, despite not having the qualifications, he will be forced to step down 12 weeks on from taking charge.
It is thought that Ten Cate is being brought in to assist Grant if he is allowed to remain at the helm and rumours suggest he will be the full-time replacement should Grant lose his appeal to the FA.
The statement from Ajax reads: "In talks with Chelsea, Ajax have reached agreement with the English club about the immediate transfer of Henk ten Cate to the London-based side.
"After being approached by Chelsea, Henk ten Cate asked the Ajax management permission to start negotiations with the Premier League side last week.
"After internal deliberations, Ajax granted permission."
The statement added that "it is now up to Chelsea and Henk ten Cate to finalise the deal", although the Dutch club said they "do not expect this to take much time".
