New Bolton boss Sammy Lee claims he is preparing to begin his new regime at the club by making several changes.
The former assistant coach to predecessor Sam Allardyce took charge of the club with two games remaining at the end of the season, guiding the club to Uefa Cup qualification.
However, he has since stated that he felt as if he was "babysitting" Allardyce's set-up and now wants to make his own mark on the team.
"I couldn't put my own stamp on things [last season]," Lee told the club's website, calling the last two games "a difficult period".
"The priority was getting qualification for Europe and I didn't feel it was right to make wholesale changes."
But he said things would be different in 2007/08 once he is able to have the pre-season to prepare the team for the way he wants them to play – perhaps heralding an end to Bolton's 'rough' reputation.
"In the coming season, I'm going to change things and if I am successful or fail I want to do things with the influence of myself and my backroom team," he continued, noting that it could spell the end of the Trotters' well-known tight 4-3-3 formation.
"This is not a criticism of the previous regime - I was part of that regime and it was successful, but I feel to move things on I want to do things differently with my coaching staff," Lee said.
"We need to be flexible and work with the personnel we have at our disposal. The targets I'm looking will be able to play in a variety of systems and that will be paramount in our recruitment process."
