Milan: Gunners ready to talk about Adebayor

Arsenal 'willing to open talks over Emmanuel Adebayor', Milan claim
AC Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has claimed he has received a letter from Arsenal saying the Gunners are willing to open talks over Emmanuel Adebayor.

If accurate, the claim suggests a big U-turn from Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger who, only a matter of weeks ago, issued a 'hands off' warning to the Rossoneri over the Togolese striker.

However, Galliani now says the only stumbling block to a transfer agreement between the two clubs is the asking price, with the Gunners believed to be setting the 24-year-old striker's value at somewhere around £36 million.

"Arsenal sent us a letter saying they were willing to talk to us about Adebayor," Galliani told Italian television channel Antenna3.

"The letter from Arsenal says, 'Following our communication of June 13th, in which we informed you we were not willing to deal over Adebayor, now we are writing to tell you that we will consider a deal if it still interests you'."

Galliani believes this news may alert other clubs to the availability of the striker, who scored 30 goals in 48 games last season.

And he added Adebayor may be more tempted by a move to Spain than Italy.

"If Adebayor decides to leave, Milan definitely want him," Galliani added.

"But it is clear that if an offer arrives from Barcelona it would be difficult for him to say no."End of story
