Arsenal confirm signing of Samir Nasri from Marseille
Arsenal have confirmed the signing of French international midfielder Samir Nasri from Marseille for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old has signed "a long-term contract", according to the club, and will join up with his new team-mates for pre-season training in ten days' time.

Nasri has 12 international caps to his name so far, with two coming during France's ill-fated Euro 2008 campaign.

He joins the Gunners with an impressive CV for such a young player, however, having won the French young player of the year award in the 2006/07 season and being voted Marseille's player of the year in 2007.

"I'm very happy to become an Arsenal player, it means such a lot to me," Nasri told the club's official website.

"This is a very important step in my life as a football player because Arsenal is a massive club. I really hope everything will go well for me here.

"I will do my best for Arsenal and its fans and I am honoured to be part of such a great football club."

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said he is "delighted" with his new signing.

"He is young, quick and technically an outstanding player," he said.

"He has shown great potential with his performances for Marseille and the French national team over the past two seasons and he will add great quality to our squad."End of story
