Paul Collingwood wants England to play more expansive strokes to achieve higher scores during the World Twenty20 tournament.
After scoring 135 from their 20 overs batting first against Australia yesterday the captain feels his side must be braver in their shot selection if they are to overcome the top sides in the world.
Australia chased-down the total in 14.5 overs and Collingwood believes that England lost the game during their batting innings.
He said: "We're going to have to have a chat and look at the areas where we can improve. We didn't get enough runs on the board and if we're going to progress in this I think we're going to have to be a little bit braver in our strokeplay."
Despite having only managed 76 runs between them in two matches Collingwood says England have no intentions of changing the top three batsmen in their line up.
Darren Maddy is averaging 17 in the tournament so far while Matt Prior's average is slightly better at 18.5. Luke Wright has struggled in both matches making zero and three against Zimbabwe and Australia respectively.
Collingwood said: "We know we have to improve but we can do that, we have players who can win games for England.
"They have shown they have the ability and have proved domestically in England they can go out there and smash the ball around."
England will face South Africa, New Zealand and India in their Super Eight stage of the tournament with the group winner progressing to the semi-finals.
