Fourth Die Hard instalment opens in US

Cult hero John McClane has returned to the big screen in the US as the fourth instalment of the popular Die Hard series, Live Free or Die Hard, debuted with $9.1 million (£4.5 million) in takings on its first day of release, according to 20th Century Fox.
Bruce Willis returns to play the role of the tough talking, all action policeman as he fights cyber terrorists planning a devastating attack on America's infrastructure.
Fox executives said they were pleased with the film's opening day performance.
Fox president of distribution Bruce Snyder said: "We did exit surveys, and the reactions are some of the best I can remember seeing, which bodes well for the film."
He added that the film was appealing to older generations of fans who grew up on the early sequels of the franchise as well as younger males.
Die Hard, directed by Len Wiseman, is competing against Pixar Animation Studios' Ratatouille for the top spot at the box office this week.
According to the Hollywood reporter, Die Hard 4 is expected to outperform the weekend numbers of its predecessors.
The original which was released over 20 years ago grossed $7.1 million during its first weekend on its way to a cumulative $83 million domestic haul.
The 1990 sequel, Die Hard 2, earned $21.7 million in its opening weekend and a total of $117.5 million which was impressive for those days. The third installment released in 1995: Die Hard: With a Vengeance scored an opening tally of $22.2 million and a $100 million total.
The film will be released in the UK on the July 4th.
