A man has been arrested after a British woman was found dead while on holiday in Tunisia.
Pauline Richardson, 64, of Country Durham, was found dead in Port Elkantaoui on Tuesday.
Durham police confirmed today that a Tunisian man had been arrested in connection with her death.
The BBC quotes a police spokesman as saying: "Durham police are liaising with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and providing support for her family.
"A stunned family are trying to come to terms with the death of a loved one in Tunisia."
Ms Richardson was a widow, a regular visitor to the country and had been on holiday with friends.
Her daughter, Beverly Sains, paid tribute to her claiming: "She was a lovely person, bubbly, friendly, caring to everyone, just so full of life. We are at a complete loss as to why this should have happened.
"She loved the warm weather because it helped her arthritis. A couple of years ago she struck up a friendship with two women and, as a group, they began visiting Tunisia.
"She just wanted to enjoy life to the full and enjoy her family. The news of her death has come as a dreadful shock."
