Organisers for Shanghai's Live Earth concert announced details of the show's line-up and location in the Chinese city today.

Performing live on the steps of the Oriental Pearl Tower will be Anthony Wong, Eason Chan, Evonne Hsu and Huang Xia Ming.

Sarah Brightman, Soler, Winnie Shin and 12 Girls Band conclude the line-up, which includes stars from the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the wider international community.

Artists from the popular Chinese TV shows My Hero and My Show will also perform at the event.

Live Earth is a 24-hour series of concerts which will begin in Sydney on July 7th and call at Istanbul, Johannesburg, London, Hamburg, Rio de Janeiro and finally New York.

Al Gore, the former vice president of the US who has supported the concerts since their first launch, said the shows aimed to unify the world.

"The climate crisis affects us all. Live Earth is about uniting all of us to be a part of the solution," Mr Gore said.

"Live Earth is taking the unprecedented step of spanning all seven continents to drive this message home."

Live Earth founder Kevin Wall, who also worked on the Live 8 concerts, said the series of shows would bring together more than 100 of the top music acts from around the world to spread the message of climate change.

"Live Earth will use the power of music to transcend borders and language and unite the world against the climate crisis," Mr Wall said.
