Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out a move for Udinese midfielder Gokhan Inler during the current January transfer window.
The Gunners boss has been linked with the Switzerland star, who plays primarily as a holding midfielder, for several months.
And despite admitting he was keen to sign the 24-year-old last summer, Wenger has now categorically ruled out purchasing the player this month.
When questioned about his interest in Inler, Wenger told the club's official website: "Yes [I was interested] in the summer, but not any more."
The admission is something of a surprise, given Wenger penchant for keeping his cards close to his chest over player transfers.
And it is also important to note that the Frenchman is not tempted by Inler, despite a clear shortage of midfielders in the Gunners squad at present due to long-term injuries to Tomas Rosicky, Theo Walcott and captain Cesc Fabregas.
