Wales manager John Toshack was left questioning his future after his side were comprehensively beaten 3-1 away to Cyprus in the Euro 2008 qualifier today.
James Collins had given the Welsh an early lead, but they failed to create little from then on and were lucky to concede only three goals as Cyprus dominated the game.
"I will have to have a long hard look at myself and what I am doing here," said Toshack.
"After what I have seen in this match I am obviously doing something wrong. We were second best everywhere."
Toshack has been in charge of the Welsh national team for three years now, but he has failed to get them to perform well consistently. This poor result comes on the back of an impressive 5-2 home win over Slovakia last month.
"I was bitterly disappointed by the performance and want to apologise to our fans who made the trip out here to watch this debacle," Toshack added.
"Cyprus were worthy winners and we were fortunate to be 1-0 up at the break.
"We tried to make some changes at the break but went from bad to worse. It was a shocking performance and we did not compete in any areas of the pitch. It was very, very disappointing to watch that."
Wales are now in sixth position in Euro 2008 qualifying group D and have no chance of reaching the finals in Austria and Switzerland next summer.
