David Beckham insists he is more interested in helping England qualify for Euro 2008 than winning 100 caps for his country.

The former England captain will probably earn his 99th cap in Wednesday night's must-win clash against Croatia, which would seal England's Euro 2008 qualification after Israel beat Russia today.

But if England fail to qualify then some critics believe the 32-year-old Beckham may never play for England again, especially as he will be 35 by the time the World Cup starts in South Africa in 2010.

"Not getting to 100 caps is not preying on my mind at all. I am not thinking about that," said Beckham.

"All I am thinking about is the team qualifying for the competition next summer. These games are not about David Beckham reaching 100 caps.

"It is about the England team reaching the European finals and that is the most important thing, not achieving personal milestones."

Beckham had been the focal point of the England setup for almost a decade since making his debut in 1996. But he was dropped by manager Steve McClaren after the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Despite moving to play in the US with the LA Galaxy, Beckham managed to win his place back and will now be desperate to beat Croatia and win his 100th cap in Austria and Switzerland next summer.
