Celtic lost 3-1 to Copenhagen as they failed to win an away game in the Champions League for the 12th successive time; the defeat meant that they qualified in second place in the group.
Atiba Hutchinson scored after only two minutes as he burst through the Celtic defence, which seemed to have its mind still in the dressing room, and fired past Artur Boruc.
The Bhoys defence was again caught napping in the first half - this time from a corner as former Chelsea midfielder Jesper Gronkjaer pounced.
Marcus Allback, who had earlier hit the crossbar from six yards out, made it 3-0 after the break before Jiri Jarosik got one back for the visitors. An effort by substitute Shunsuke Nakamura late on was the closest the Hoops could come to adding another.
Elsewhere Hamburg won an eventful game with CSKA Moscow 3-2 which helped Arsenal qualify in Porto with the 0-0 draw they achieved there.
Moscow took the lead after 23 minutes but it was 1-1 before half-time, thanks to Besart Berisha. Yuri Zhirkov then gave CSKA the lead once more before late strikes by Rafael van der Vaart and Boubacar Sanogo gave Hamburg their first win in the group.
Lyon finished top of group E after a 1-1 draw with Steaua Bucharest. Real Madrid were runners up after they came from behind to draw 2-2 with Dynamo Kiev, though they had to rely on two goals from Ronaldo, after 87 and 88 minutes, to get the point.
In group H, AC Milan had already qualified and lost 2-0 at home to Lille - the French side also qualify - while Anderlecht drew 2-2 with AEK Athens.
