Rangers boss Walter Smith has admitted his surprise at the final scoreline as his side ran out 3-0 winners over Lyon in last night's Champions League.
The Glasgow giants recorded the best ever away victory by a Scottish side in the competition, becoming only the second team to beat the French champions on home soil in 19 attempts.
And Smith, who resigned from the Scotland national team to rejoin the Ibrox outfit last season, said he felt his side had been rewarded for their efforts.
"We had to work extremely hard for it and we are delighted," he said.
"I don't think we could have imagined we would come to a club as strong as Lyon and win 3-0."
However Smith refused to get carried away with Rangers' opening to the group, which has seen them win both matches including the 1-0 home victory against Stuttgart.
"I don't think I insult anyone when I say Barcelona are out-and-out favourites to win the group," he continued.
"And the results between the rest of the teams are going to be vital, so we've got off to a really good start.
"We now go back-to-back with Barcelona, so I think the results between Lyon and Stuttgart over those two games will determine how the group will go."
