Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo has reaffirmed his desire to stay with the European Champions.
Reports have once again linked the world player of the year with a possible £75 million summer move to Spanish giants Real Madrid. Former Madrid president Ramon Calderon, who will re-stand for election, has even claimed he has a deal in place with Ronaldo to take him to the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo and United manager Sir Alex Ferguson were asked about the story at a press conference ahead of the Champions League game against FC Porto.
Both were visibly irked after the question was asked and Ferguson, who famously said he wouldn't sell Madrid a "virus", labelled the latest round of rumours as "pathetic".
Ronaldo meanwhile said: "It is always the same question. I am happy here (at United). I think it is the right club.
"We are the best team in England. We have shown that by being top of the table. That speaks for itself. We respect all our opponents but if we carry on winning, we will win the title again.
"We have a chance to win everything this season. First we have to beat FC Porto. After that, we must carry on."
But the rumours linking Ronaldo with a move to Spain are unlikely to stop and as the Madrid presidential election approach, Calderon, who came close to signing the Portuguese wizard last summer, is expected to build his campaign around the signing of Ronaldo.
