Real Madrid have put their faith in under-fire manager Bernd Schuster.
The Spanish champions called a press conference for Monday evening where it was expected it would be announced that Schuster had dismissed.
Instead sporting director Predrag Mijatovic gave the former Getafe man a vote of confidence.
"My obligation as sporting director is to transmit to our fans a sense of tranquillity, serenity and calm," said Mijatovic.
"Now it is necessary to trust that we have a solid project, that we have great players who are able to improve and can obtain the objectives that we have."
Mijatovic also stated that club president Ramon Calderon and the board of directors had, "full confidence in our players and our coaching staff".
Schuster has endured a difficult season with the side currently sitting fourth in La Liga.
They have also crashed out of the Copa del Rey to minnows Real Union, and have been beaten twice in the Champions League by Juventus.
Saturday's defeat at Real Valladolid was expected to be the final straw, particular as Schuster responded by giving the players two days off, much to the annoyance of many fans and the media.
However it would seem that Schuster, for the time being at least, has the support of his board.
