Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed he is not worried by Manchester United's apparently inability to hit the net this season, despite their 0-0 draw at home to Villarreal.
The European champions began their title defence in less than convincing fashion against last season's Primera Liga runners-up at Old Trafford as they failed to break down the Spaniard's resolute defence.
The high point of the evening was the return of winger Cristiano Ronaldo after a long injury layoff.
But even the Portuguese magician was unable to finish off any chances for United as Ferguson's men drew a blank.
The result means United have scored just four goals in their five matches so far this season and won just once - a 1-0 away success against Portsmouth in the Premier League.
However, Ferguson believes his team will find their goalscoring touch before too long and said he is not overly worried by the side's lack of firepower - which was picked out as United's weak link before the season began.
"We are a bit short but the games will bring us on," Ferguson said.
"We will improve from now. We have a little bit to go yet. But once the sharpness of play comes, I am sure the goals will come as well."
On Ronaldo's comeback, which was met with cheers from the home crowd rather than the mixed reaction some were expecting following the protracted saga of his proposed transfer to Real Madrid this summer, Ferguson was pleased.
Despite missing at least one good chance during the game, the Scottish tactician admitted he was expecting his star man to be a little ring-rusty and declared his satisfaction with his return.
The United supremo added: "To come back like that, without a practice match or anything, the boy has done very well."
