British expatriates living in Spain are being asked to help search for the ten most wanted criminals believed to have escaped to the country.
British and Spanish authorities are targeting the Costa Blanca in south-eastern Spain in a bid to track down those who have fled to the popular tourist spot.
Crimestoppers along with the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) have issued a list of ten most wanted British suspects, as well as releasing their photographs and details of their crimes.
The initiative comes after the success of an earlier operation launched on the Costa del Sol, in Spain, which resulted in the arrest of 13 criminals on a list of 30 released by the authorities.
Bill Hughes, director general of SOCA, said: "This is an innovative partnership which is proving to be very successful, and is delivering a simple message to criminals; you won't escape to the sun, we will find you and bring you back."
Denise Holt, the British ambassador to Spain, added: "Both British and Spanish residents on the Costas did a fantastic job in 2006 in helping Crimestoppers track down some notorious criminals. We're appealing for your help again. There are ten new names and faces of dangerous people that you can help put behind bars."
People who think they have recognised one of the wanted individuals are encouraged to call freephone Spanish 900 555 111 where calls will be answered by British operators.
