The man believed to head Spanish terrorist group Eta's military wing has been arrested in France.
Garikoitz Asiazu Rubina was held in the Hautes-Pyrenees region after a night raid in the early hours this morning, French police said.
Txeroki, as he is known, is the chief suspect in the December 2007 killing of two Spanish police officers in France.
His arrest is the biggest coup for Spain's anti-terror police since political leader Javier Lopez Pena was detained in May this year.
Basque separatist group Eta has killed over 800 people in its four-decade campaign against the Spanish government.
