Penelope Cruz and Keanu Reeves were among attendees of red carpet screenings at the London Film Festival on Tuesday night.

The actress graced the red carpet in support of her new film, Woody Allen's Vicky Cristina Barcelona, while Reeves was on hand to support Anvil! The Story of Anvil, a documentary about a Canadian metal band.

Shot by British screenwriter Sacha Gervasi, Anvil! tells of the titular Toronto rockers who formed in the 1970s and after flirting with success in the early 80s, sank into obscurity.

The band's lead singer, Steve "Lips" Kudlow, said the film's message was to show it was "OK to dream and it's even better to live the dream".

"Really what it's all about is doing what makes you feel good about yourself," he told BBC News.

"It wasn't an overnight thing and it was never planned to be," he said of Anvil's 13-album career.

"We wanted to do this for our lives - it was a decision that we made as young kids, that we're never going to give up."

Reeves grew up in Toronto and said Gervasi's picture was a "great story".

"It's a really inspiring film about friendship," he added.

Cruz, meanwhile, stars alongside Scarlett Johansson and Rebecca Hall in Woody Allen's latest, telling of the complex love lives of Americans living in Catalunya.

"I fell in love with the character," she said of her role as Maria, the ex-wife of Javier Bardem's artist in the film.
