Viewers of ITV1's This Morning have called the daytime show expressing concern for Kerry Katona after she made an erratic appearance on the programme.

The former Atomic Kitten singer slurred her way through an interview with hosts Philip Schofield and Fern Britton, prompting audience members to call in questioning her mental health.

"You don't seem right to me," said Schofield on the Wednesday morning programme. "Your speech is a bit slurred, how are you feeling?"

The 28-year-old seemed surprised and replied: "Is it?" before claiming her mumbling was due to taking prescription drugs to help her sleep.

Schofield continued: "Our phone has already gone in the gallery from people in ITV who've said 'is she OK?'

The mother-of-four insisted she was "absolutely fine" and added: "All it is is my medication. I've never been happier, I swear to God, healthwise I'm fine."

The interview then moved on the topic of Katona's recent photo-shoot for men's magazine Zoo, in which it was claimed she was drinking champagne on the Marbella set.

"I suppose and I'm going to be frank with you here, a lot of people say when you have an addictive personality and you get rid of one addiction it's replaced with another," Britton remarked.

When Katona asked: "What addiction would that be?" Britton replied: "Is it alcohol?"

The reality TV star answered: "No not at all. I was on holiday in Spain, I'm allowed to have a drink aren't I. Does that mean I'm an alcoholic?

Schofield said the hosts were "merely pointing" towards what viewers might be thinking as Katona seemed a "very, very different to the person we knew a few years ago".

Katona's spokesman Max Clifford has not yet commented on the interview.
