Chelsea have not given up on signing Real Madrid winger Robinho, chief executive Peter Kenyon has revealed.
The Blues have been heavily linked with the Brazil star, who is valued at around £30 million.
Robinho has insisted he wants to spend next season at the Spanish champions despite interest from Luiz Felipe Scolari.
But Kenyon claims he is confident the 24-year-old will arrive at Stamford Bridge this summer.
"One of the key issues over buying Robinho has always been that Real Madrid are looking for a replacement," Kenyon told the club's official website.
"It is fair to say that is what has been holding up discussions between the two clubs.
"It has not progressed over the last couple of days, but the window is open until the end of August so there is still plenty of time to run."
Madrid have been chasing Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo but Robinho has declared he will not be used as bait in the move.
Chelsea have already splashed out £16 million on defender Jose Bosingwa and compatriot Deco for £8 million.
Kenyon insists one player that will not join the new arrivals is Werder Bremen playmaker Diego.
"With regards to Diego, I was as amazed as everybody else to read it in the newspapers this morning so again I think that is just pure speculation," Kenyon added.
