Cuban leader Fidel Castro has made his first appearance on television after months of sickness.
Broadcast on Cuban TV, the clip showed the leader in a meeting with friend and Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez, who this month publicly announced that Fidel Castro was "fighting for his life".
The 80-year-old was shown talking with Mr Chavez and drinking orange juice during the ten-minute clip.
"As I have said this is far from being a lost battle," Fidel Castro said of his health.
According to reports, the Cuban leader looks to be recovering. His previous appearance, in October last year, showed him looking frail.
The Cuban leader's health has been under much speculation since having an operation in July. Details of his health have been a closely guarded secret among officials and doctors, but his condition has forced the 80-year-old to hand over power to his younger brother, defence minister Raul Castro.
Earlier this month, Mr Chavez told media that that his friend's health situation was difficult. "Just like he says, the machine that they have to fix is 80 years old," he said while speaking at a summit in Brazil.
His outlook on the Cuban's health was more optimistic following their recent meeting, however.
"Fidel said days ago that the battle is not lost. I would say more: we are winning it," he said.
