Spanish legend Seve Ballesteros is in a stable condition in hospital after he suffered dizziness and fainted.

The 51-year-old is undergoing tests in a Madrid hospital after he reportedly briefly lost consciousness. The hospital Ballesteros is being treated in said no further details of his condition would be revealed to the public under instruction from the golfer's family.

Ballesteros is one of the most exciting players to have ever picked up a golf club. He won an amazing 83 titles in a career which lasted 33 years.

The Spaniard won five major titles, which included two Masters crowns in 1980 and 1983 and three Open titles in 1979, 1984 and 1988.

Ballesteros is remembered fondly by a lot of fans for his memorable performances in the Ryder Cup for Europe. The showman won a remarkable 20 points from his 37 matches and also captained Europe to victory at Valderrama in 1997.

Ballesteros won the European Order of Merit seven times and was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1999. He was forced to retire last year due to back injury which had plagued him for a number of years.
